The Montrose Blueberry Festival returns Friday and Saturday, August 1st and 2nd! Planning for the 2025 festival began months ago, almost as soon as we wrapped up from the 2024 festival! The same early planning is necessary for the White Elephant Sale. Why? Because now is the time of year that you are doing your spring cleaning.

While you clean out your closets, garages, and basements, keep the White Elephant Sale and the Book Sale in mind. Every cent made at the sale from the things you donate goes directly to the Susquehanna, Hallstead-Great Bend, Forest City, and Montrose branch libraries, as well as the Historical Society.

This is worth knowing, the library receives funds from state and county tax dollars. Those funds only cover roughly 50% of what is needed to keep our libraries’ doors open. So, where does the other 50% come from? That would be fundraisers, such as the Blueberry Festival. And how do these fundraisers succeed? With your help.

Books, especially hardcover books, can be dropped off during regular hours at the Montrose Library. Drop off dates for the White Elephant Sale are coming up fast. Below are the guidelines for donations as well as the location and drop off dates:

  • No clothing/books/large furniture/electronics/bed linens and baby items
  • Only clean working small appliances such as toasters/irons/microwaves, etc.
  • Any jewelry should be in a closed container
  • Children’s toys or stuffed animals should be clean and in decent condition
  • DO NOT DROP OFF ANY ITEMS ANYTIME OTHER THAN THE SCHEDULED DAYS
  • The drop off location is at Scarfalloto’s Hometown Market Plaza. There will signage directing you to the correct suite. The address is, 16749 State Rte. 706, Montrose, PA 18801.

The drop off dates are as follow:

  • Tuesday, June 10th
  • Thursday, June 12th
  • Tuesday, June 17th
  • Thursday, June 19th
  • Tuesday, June 24th
  • Thursday, June 26th
  • SATURDAY, June 28th
  • Tuesday, July 1st
  • Tuesday, July 8th
  • Thursday, July 10th
  • Tuesday, July 15th

Not only by donating do you make a difference, but also think about volunteering!  There are a hundred ways to help, and you can imagine, if there are a hundred ways to help, that means there are a hundred jobs that need to be done. Just a handful of people cannot make it work.

Volunteering has so many benefits. If you volunteer as a family, not only do you get to spend quality time together, it shows your kids how much fun it can be! They should bring their friends too! For individuals, you get out, meet new people, and make a difference. Organizations helping other organizations brings communities together and everything flourishes.

Sign up now at the Blueberry Festival website, or go to the Montrose Library for a paper copy sign up sheet!

We are looking forward to working with you to make this year’s festival the best one yet!
