Last year our first Blueberry Festival 5K was such a success, it is now an annual event. along with the 1-mile fun run for the kids.

The fun begins on Saturday morning, August 2, 2025! The Fun Run will begin at 7:15 a.m. The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m.

The 5K is a great course; it stays off the busiest streets, some of it is run on the Rail Trail, and the elevation changes are relatively small. What a wonderful way to start the day running through the streets of quaint and picturesque Montrose.

The 5K Awards are as follow. Medals will be given to the top 3 male finishers and top 3 female finishers of the 5K in each age group: 12 & under, 13-18, 19-30, 31-49, 50+

Cash prizes will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers as follows:
1st overall Male/Female – $100
2nd overall Male/Female – $75
3rd overall Male/Female – $50

There is a school award category being offered at this race that involves school athletic programs. If you are a school student, parent or immediate family member of a student, alumni, current or retired school employee, then you are eligible to race for your school. When signing up for the race, runners must identify what school they are affiliated with on the t-shirt size selection page. Scoring will be done the same as high school team cross country races: the top five males and top five females times of each school district will be used. Cash awards will be given to the three top scoring schools for both males and females and an additional cash award will be given to the school that registers the most overall participants. A check will be made out to the running program of each school receiving an award.

Cash awards for both male and female scores are as follows;

1st place school  – $500
2nd place school – $300
3rd place school – $100
School with the most overall participants – $100

All runners who pre-register by July 19th will receive an event T-shirt.

Those registering after that date may receive a T-shirt if available. All participants for the 5K and the Fun Run must sign a waiver.

You can sign up here.

You are sure to be hungry after all that running so walk on over to the pancake breakfast tent on the Village Green and fill up on pancakes, fruit, and sausage! Eat your breakfast as you sit and listen to music provided by local artists.

Throughout the day there are family friendly events going on. Be sure to take advantage of all of them. The Blueberry Festival is truly an old-fashioned event with something for everyone.

All proceeds go to the Susquehanna County Free Library and Historical Association.
